Blog Tour: Stupid Girl by Cindy Miles

Only fools fall in love...

After her senior year of high school leaves behind nothing but heartache, Olivia Beaumont is sure of this: She’s no stupid girl. She sets out for Winston College, promising herself that she will remain focused on her first and only love – astronomy. But all it takes is cocky sophomore Brax Jenkins and an accidental collision with a football, to throw her entire year off course.

A quick-tempered Southie who escaped the inner city streets of Boston to pitch for Winston, Brax is known to play way more fields than just the baseball diamond. So, when his name is drawn to take part in his fraternity’s hazing dare, Brax eagerly accepts the mission to take Olivia’s virginity. But he doesn’t plan on falling hard for the sweet and sassy Texas girl who sees right through his bad-boy persona.

As Olivia and Brax battle their feelings for each other, echoes of the past year begin to surface. A boy who once turned Olivia’s whole world upside down reappears, and “harmless” pranks wreak havoc. Pretty soon the aspiring astronomer is on the verge of revealing her most difficult, heartbreaking secret. All the while, Brax must wrestle with the irrevocable dare, and Olivia struggles against all logic as she does the one thing only a stupid girl would do: fall in love.

"Aut viam inveniam aut faciam. It's Latin. It means I shall either find a way or make one."

Stupid Girl By Cindy Miles has everything that you could ask for in a good read, a hot athletic bad boy with a wicked accent, a strong but shy girl working to overcome a past that has scarred her and a college dare that can either bring them together or tear them apart.  This was a 4 star read for me and I would definitely recommend this book to fellow readers who enjoy a read filled with drama, love, misunderstandings and of course what we all secretly yearn for, a happily ever after (or the beginning of one at least).

Olivia Beaumont started her first day of college exactly how she wanted it, hours away from her small Texas ranch and the rumors that haunted her senior year of college.  Yearning to start over in a place where no one would know what happened between her and her high-school boyfriend Kelsy, she was determined to keep her head down, work hard to keep her atronomy scholarship and graduate so that she could help her boitserous and protective family run their ranch.  She never intended to meet a headstrong, not willing to take no for an answer, insightful guy from Boston, with a sexy accent and a fast-ball that rivalled most other college players.  Trying to keep her guard up and only be friend with Brax would be a job all in itself, and the reader wondered, how long could she possibly resist.

'Vincit qui se vincit. He conquers who conquers himself."

At first glance, Brax was your typical fraternity baseball joke, a reputation the preceeded him, skills on the baseball mound that many others only yearned to have and an ego that you often thought wouldn't fit in Olivia's small freshman dorm room.  Brax literally knocks Olivia over on her very first day moving into her dorm and its there that the spark of connection take root and only grows stronger as the story progresses. It is only once they begin to come close, that the reader and Gracie (as Brax calls her) is given a glimpse into the life that brax lived back in Boston, a life that made him look like and sometimes act like the typical tatooed bad boy that we all know and love, when in fact he was a fiercly protective, caring and extremely smart, loving guy.

Gracie and Brax begin a friendship, despite the warnings that she received from her roommate and others around campus.  She isn't interested in starting a relationship with anyone, especially not after everything that happened with Kelsy.  It only takes a short amount of time for her to fall for the Brax that only she can see and before you know it, they are in a relationship.  A relationship that started on a lie and almost ended because of it.

Stupid Girl was a fantastic story!  I would give this a definite 5 stars!  Cindy Miles is a new author to me and I am so glad I took a chance on her because now I am a huge fan.  The story was in a dual POV of Brax and Gracie but you mostly see Gracie's POV.  There is no cliffhanger and there is definitely an HEA thank goodness!  I have to say I do read a lot and most are apart of a series but sometimes my favorite stories are ones that give me a finish line and don't leave me hanging. SO thank you Cindy Miles for that!

Olivia (Gracie) was a torn soul because of her past.  She was focusing on starting over and finally going to college.  Her past always crept to her mind but she was determined to get past it finally and live for her not for what the monster did to her.  On her first day on campus not only does she literally get knocked over but she gets a steaming kiss that sends her into a tailspin with the sexy neighbor Brax.  He is a tattooed bad boy who has demons of his own but is also the college baseball playboy. He won't deny his playboy status because he knows what he is and he doesn't have to hide it from anyone.  He chose to fall into Gracie for a reason and what starts out to be apart of a big scheme will blow up in his face.  Gracie wants nothing to do with him and she makes if very clear that she only wants to be friends, but Brax is very persuasive and eventually Gracie does give in to a date with him.  Through there friendship things start to become more but Brax is hiding a secret and Gracie is hiding her past.  What will happen when then 2 collide and the secret and the past coming tumbling forward all at once?  Can Brax prove to Gracie he really cares for her or will he prove that he is the asshole that she was warned him to be?

Pick up this book right away you will not be disappointed.  I did wanna scream at some parts because of things that happen but who doesn't love some angst.  Oh and it does have some sexy too don't worry Brax will make your panties melt I guarantee it.  I look forward to much more from this author.

Below are some of my favorite lines from the book.

Gracie-  Despite his bold acknowledgment of my supposed virginity, and blatant expression of pursuit, he was....more than charming.  But I'd been warned of that, too, and I knew behind his charisma and witty comments and sexy Southie accent and too-sly smile, demons lurked.  Scary ones.  I wasn't sure he was as dangerous as Tessa warned me about, but I did feel he was just passing time with me.  Fascinated, more than likely, because I wasn't twirling my hair, fake sighing and throwing myself at him.  Plus, he thought I was a virgin.  That's a novelty to any guy.  Something off limits, forbidden.  It's like a red flag to a bull.  A green flag to a race car driver.

We rode through campus, my arms wrapped around his stomach and holding tightly.  The warmth from his skin seeped through the tee shirt he wore and sank into me, and I loved that feeling, too.  It reminded me of safety, protection, desire, all tightly bound within the tattoos and muscles of the most unlikely of scarred heroes.  Dare I call him mine?

Brax-  "You suckerpunched me, Gracie.  Never been hit so hard in my whole life."  He brushed his knuckles over my cheek.  "You're just so damn different."

"The morning I left you?  Christ, you were lying there, so fucking peaceful, with your hair all around you.  You made it hard for me to breathe, Gracie.  It was the hardest fucking thing I'd ever done in my life, leaving you there alone."
