Blog Tour: Karma by Charity Ferrell

I’m cursed. Yes, cursed and this isn’t some paranormal fantasy. This is my real life. Karma has decided to last out on me. I’ll never find my true love and I’m learning to accept that. The only problem is; he isn’t. He’s starting a war with karma and everyone knows karma always fights back with a vengeance.
Gabby Taylor is screwed. On her first day at her new internship, she runs into the guy she’s been fighting to avoid. The one guy whose family despises her and she drunkenly gave her virginity away to. And he’s her new co-worker.
She is messing up everything Dalton Douglas has planned. She climbed her way into his thoughts, thrown her bags down and he could’t manage to evict her- even if it cost him everything he’s been
working his ass off for. The only problem is: she’s fighting him. He will fight to keep her but can he manage to hide his own secrets that would ruin everything between them?

Are you destined to be haunted by Karma because of the actions of the past? Actions that you had no part in but affect you none the less?  That is what Gabby believes is her curse, Karma is reeling its ugly head because her mother was a mistress who later became a wife and Gabby is doomed with men because of it.  Charity Ferrell writes the story of Karma, complete with a tremendous amount of angst, a little sliver of happy and a cliff hanger that even though you suspected it as you turned the last pages, made you gasp in surprise anyway.  This was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend it to others!  I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the next book in the series because I desperately need to know what happens next!

Gabby makes a split second drunken decision to lose her virginity to the one guy she knows she should stay away from, Dalton Douglas, son of her step-fathers brother.  Leaving his bed in the middle of the night, she thinks she won't have to deal with him again, that is until she takes a summer job at her step-father's PR firm where she is forced to work with Dalton as his partner on a scandal case.  Although it takes everything that she has to try and not allow her feelings for Dalton to surface, to not let him know how attracted she truly is to him, she is anything but successful.  And Dalton is just as attracted to her, pursuing her when he knows he should be running the other way and fast!

Dalton is set to train in the PR firm, so that when his father retires, he will take over the reins of the prosperous family business.  His life is anything but happy, being under his father's thumb, a man who is cruel, even to his own flesh and blood.  Dalton is set to be married to Eve, a woman with a social status to match his own, a merger that would benefit all, whether or not there is love involved in the union.  Dalton is disgusted by the arranged married, but he knows that he has no other choice but to follow orders and he plans to, that is until he starts to date Gabby on the sly.

And just when you think that is enough angst for one story, there is so much more!  Gabby's stepbrother Asher flirts with her incessantly, taking her to dinner's and watching tv with her all the while watching over her in a protective sort of way.  He warns his cousin Dalton several times to tell Gabby the truth, that he is already "engaged" because he doesn't want Gabby to get hurt and Dalton agrees to tell her, but as the reader turns each page, you keep asking the question when.

As Gabby and Dalton grow closer and closer in their relationship, a rift forms with Asher and Gabby because the romantic feelings that he had for her were not reciprocated.  The reader feels for Asher because he really is a great guy, he doesn't buy into the "I am a Douglas" mentality that the others do.  But he steps back it seems to allow Gabby the happiness she seems to have found with Dalton, even though he doesn't agree with it.

Everything comes crashing down on Gabby when she is introduced to Dalton's fiancĂ© in the most cruel of ways at a company function, where she went as Dalton's date.  Dalton who was desperately trying to figure out how to get out of his marriage to Eve tries to talk to Gabby about what is going on but she will have none of it and she runs away.  And that is where this book ends in a cliff hanger that you almost expect but still surprises you all the same, which shows what a great author Charity is.  I have so many questions that I need answers to that I cannot wait for book 2 in this angsty, family drama!

Karma was really intense sexy read.  I would give it a 4 star.  This is the first book in the series and ends with a pretty big cliffy.. yes no HEA!  I can't wait for Fighting Karma to come out.  This book definitely lives up to its name.. it seems like Karma is smacking everybody in the face in this book.  It is told in dual POV's of Dalton and Gabby.

Gabbie is the daughter of a woman known as being a husband stealer and a whore because she had an affair with a married man and he left his wife for her mother.  She knew then that her life would never be the same because her step-father was very rich and that isn't what Gabby was used too, and on top of that everyone shunned her because of her mother.  One night she is drunk and determined to finally talk to Dalton the mysterious son of her step-fathers brother.  But the talking turns into to more and she gives her virginity to Dalton-- who is not so happy that she was a virgin.  Six Months go by and Gabbie is starting a new job and the last person she wanted to see again was Dalton but he was there because not only did he work there too but his father owns the company, she dreaded the whole situation.

He pushed forward, his voice raspy.  "Is it because I've seen you naked?" My mouth suddenly went dry.  "Or because I know what it feels like to be inside you?  I know what it feels like to have your hot pussy wrapped around my cock."--DALTON

Gabbie knew it was a bad idea to have one night stand with someone you will see again but she couldn't help herself and she blamed it on being drunk.  He did try to call her multiple times over the 6 month's but Gabbie couldn't find a good reason to answer him, but now she has no choice but to confront him and of course the sexual tension is back again.  When they are pinned together to work on an assignment she looses all of her self control and decides to let there attraction play out.. after all he knows about her mother and doesn't judge her.

Sure, I liked messing around with guys, but I'd never had anything feel as satisfying as it did with Dalton.  I'd never melted at someone's touch; feeling like my body was loosening up and losing control.  He was giving me that, what I'd been craving all along.  It wasn't only about sex, either.  He made me feel special, he made me feel wanted and he liked me for me.  Not too many people saw the girl behind the nasty gossip with the mom from the trailer park.-- GABBY

I gripped her wrist, dragging her hand down my face, and pressed my lips into her palm.  " I just had my hands in your panties, babe.  I don't think it be cool if I was checking her out in front of you.  The only naked body I want to see is yours,"  I said, giving her hand another kiss before releasing it.  I wasn't lying; I couldn't wait to get my hands back on that silky skin of hers.  I'd never thought about Gabby and me before that night. But after everything she was all I thought about.  She was constantly embedded into my brain.  Now that I'd had another hit, I needed more.-- DALTON

Dalton tried to get Gabbie out of his head but unfortunately she had worked her way into his heart also.  But he has a secret that could crush her.. no it will crush her because there is nothing he can do to change what he has to do.  When the secret comes to light and more twists and turns comes out as well will Gabby be able to trust Dalton ever again? Or is there really any point because what he has to do with his life doesn't include her.. and for her Karma is smacking her hard in the face and she just has to escape especially after a another secret that doesn't include Dalton surfaces.

So we wait to see how this all plays out in the next book... and I really need to know soon so please Charity Ferrell get this book to us soon!! Thanks for the great ride!
