L. P. Dover’s tantalizing Second Chances series scores once again as the Carolina Cougars’ infamous bad boy takes a shot at seducing a driven career woman who’s supposed to be out of bounds.

Trying to live down his very public indiscretions, Carolina Cougars kicker Jaxon Reed feels like the most hated man in the NFL. Fans and teammates alike treat him with the disrespect he figures he deserves. Unfortunately for them, Jaxon’s no easy target. As payback, he sets his sights on the quarterback’s sister: a sultry brunette who’s curvy, confident, and sexy as hell. But what begins as a revenge fling turns into so much more—a lesson in humanity, and in love.

Bristol Thomas doesn’t have time for games, especially those played by her brother’s Neanderthal teammates. A talented interior designer with lofty goals, she doesn’t know the first thing about football, or Jaxon—except that he’s exactly the type of man she usually avoids. But when his deep laugh and deeper kisses break through her walls, she becomes the target of a fan who’s obsessed with Jaxon. Now she needs to know that Jaxon has her back . . . because he already has her heart.
“Deft plotting and a hair-raising finale elevate this pulse-pounding tale.”—Publishers Weekly

“...this book has A LOT of hot chemistry, sexy banter and will take you for a ride!” Kelly’s Book Blog
I hadn't realized this was a series. It can be read as a standalone but I think it would have helped to have read the others because characters were mentioned that I am sure have been given a book. With that said... I was still able to follow and loved the storyline.

Caroline Cougars kicker, Jaxon has had a bad rep. He has done some mean things in his past to some of his colleagues. As they get a new Quarterback, Jaxon sets his sights on some revenge; the Quarterbacks sister. But what's starts off as revenge ends up so much more.

Bristol is the Carolina Cougars Quarterbacks sister and has sworn off any relationship with a colleague of her brothers but she is drawn to Jaxon. What she doesn't know at first is that he plays football. And she starts to fall for him.

What happens when the truth is revealed? Can they go the distance?

Intended for Bristol by L. P. Dover is a romance that will draw you in and keep you on the edge of your seat. That said, it is part of a series, and although it can be read as a standalone, I feel like I missed something not reading the others in the series. It wasn't confusing or anything like that, but I think it would have added to the story to know more about some of the other characters.

Jaxon is known as a bad boy and when his team gets a new quarter back, he wants to play a little revenge with the new QB's sister. Only he wasn't anticipating having any real feelings for her.

Bristol isn't looking for love, but something draws her to Jaxon. She wasn't expecting that he played football with her brother though.

Will they be able to work it out? Will they survive the danger that awaits them?

I really liked this book. It was well written and the characters were great. Like I said, I think I missed something not reading the other books in this series, but don't let that detract you from reading this book. It was great and I give it 4 stars. You need to one click today. L. P. Dover doesn't disappoint.

Jax is infamous for being a jerk and a womanizer, causing drama even in his NFL career. When he's set his sights on Bristol, it's almost guaranteed to cause drama because she's linked to Jax's teams' new QB.

With his notorious ways, he's been warned to steer clear from Bristol - but that won't stop him.

I didn't really truly love Jax because of his past but he does actually redeem himself a little bit.

It did take me a little bit to sort of settle into the book and understand who each of the characters were, but once I got it - this book became a very good read.

“Hey,” I squealed, waving my hand in the air. I was so happy my brother would finally get to meet Jack.

He walked toward me with a smile, but when he caught sight of Jack, that smile turned into an all-out heated glare. “What the fuck are you doing here?” he growled, quickening his pace.

Jack froze and gripped my arm, grumbling, “Shit,” before pulling me around to face him. “Bristol, listen to me. This isn’t how I wanted you to find out.”

Everything was happening so fast, I didn’t know what to think. “Find out what?” I asked desperately.

Before he could reply, Ryan ripped me out of Jack’s hold and pushed him away. Jaw tense, Jack was ready to fight, but I couldn’t let that happen. “Ryan, stop!” I shouted, digging my nails in his shoulder.

Jerking his head around, he glared straight at me. “Do you even know who this cocksucker is? He’s playing you to get back at me.”

I threw my hands in the air. “What the hell are you talking about? How do you even know him?” Jack’s eyes never left mine, the anguish on his face making me sicker by the second. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like what came out of Ryan’s mouth. He scoffed incredulously and spat at Jack. “He’s Jaxon fucking Reed, the asshole on the team I’ve been telling you about. Don’t tell me you didn’t know?”

Jack stepped forward, but then again, that wasn’t his name. It was Jaxon Reed.
